Bolton Memory Bank began as an 'Ambition for Ageing' funded project conducted with the help and assistance of Halliwell History Society, which is headed by Margaret Koppens and particularly. Norman Hindley, who leads the Halliwell Reminiscence group.
The purpose of the project is to collect memories from the people of Bolton and to share them more widely via this website.
Initially, people from the reminiscence group of Halliwell History Society shared some of their stories (see Video), later, Live from Worktown donated video stories collected for the Bill Naughton project of 2017, and Norman donated an extended audio interview the Museum of Science and Industry conducted with him in 2009 and this can be found in the audio section.
If you would like to get involved in this project please email Paul Blackburn -
The interviews were undertaken at All Souls community centre and thanks go to the staff there for their welcome and the generous way they shared their time and resources.
